Meet the staff

We were thinking how best to introduce the members of staff in the Deli to everyone, and we decided to   chose which cheese best describes themselves.

Rachel he youngest member working part time during holidays to pay for her university loans, said that was easy, her namesake Rachel, a hard goats cheese which is described as sweet, curvy and a little bit nutty!! Perfect really.

Jo the boss born and bred in and Cumbria, and a farmer’s wife, has to be Cumberland Farmhouse Cheddar, not too strong not to mild, just the perfect balance. Completely ideal to be the boss.

Andrea our newest recruit, an excellent recommendation from a mutual friend; she is definitely an Appleby Brie, a blooming crust on the outside hiding a gooey soft centre.

Jan second in command, small and perfectly formed has to be Crofton. Quite a mix but works excellently with a good Shiraz.

We are a mixed bunch, yet we along beautifully together, always having a joke and a laugh which we think create a welcoming happy atmosphere for customers. So come and meet the team.

Blog to introduce the Cheese Deli

Hello Cheese People,
We've started this cheesy blog to introduce the Cheese Deli and what we are all about here.
We're a small independent specialist cheese shop here in the heart of the Lake District, tucked away in one of the old court yards off the main street in Keswick. (In behind Friars Chocolate Shop, not a bad spot to be really!)
Were easily recognisable with our old delivery bike outside, and our trompe l'oeil on the outside wall.
We open every day during the summer months and we're here from 9-30am until 5pm Monday to Saturday and 10 until 4pm on Sundays. Winter months the times may differ but we will let you know.
We stock a huge range of local and British Cheeses, crackers, chutneys, jams, olives, oils and vinegars and everything else related to Cheese.
Fresh scones are made most days,( not Tuesdays as Jan’s not keen on taking up the challenge) Extra Cheese and Buttermilk fruit scones are the most popular, and have gained a strong local following, which is great.

If you're ever stuck for a gift idea we have a great range of hampers ready made up or if you would like to choose your own items we can easily make them up while you wait.
